According to the clinic’s website, the Újbuda team builds each personal programme on the network’s own system, the MozgásPiramis® (movement pyramid). It shows the order in which to progress: easing the complaint sits at the base, and at the top is the return to what you did before the pain.

The five levels

1. Treating the pain and the current complaint. Here manual therapy and gentle exercise usually work together, with physical therapy devices added when needed.

2. Restoring joint range of motion. Mobilisation and active exercises give the joint back the range that everyday life requires.

3. Correcting the lack of muscle strength. Targeted physiotherapy exercise builds strength and teaches the muscle to switch on at the right moment.

4. Building functional stability. Core stability, movement control, and practising the movements of your job or your sport.

5. Returning to sport or to full load. The load grows step by step, and then the result is maintained, for example with Medical Fitness training.

Why can you not skip a level?

Because the levels build on each other. While a joint does not move properly, strengthening can fix a poor pattern; while the strength is missing, tasks that demand stability come too early. The clinic’s website puts it this way: improvement always comes in steps, and the length of treatment depends on the nature and severity of the problem.

Where do you start?

Not everyone begins on the first level. Someone who arrives without pain, for prevention or for strengthening after surgery, may have a plan that starts higher up. The physiotherapist decides this at the first assessment, which is described in the first-visit article.
